India and Brazil, or Japan and South Korea? Yet the latter have far higher population densities than the former - what we think is “overpopulation” is just underdevelopment. The consequences of trying to lower the population are detrimental - the population gets older, and there are no young people to care for them. Without children, families break down and society suffers. Economically, the working age population shrinks and it becomes unsustainable. America should increase its population - but primarily through childbearing in my opinion, in order to avoid the problems of immigrant integration.

The problem with his thinking is its not just population. It is a large population with disposable income. I mean India and Africa has a large population why don't they have huge influence around the world? One of the main issue have been that manufacturing jobs have been leaving the country. This means the middle class has been shrinking. Having a large population means nothing when majority are all on welfare. It will be like the scene from The Expanse where the earth reached 80 billion people and there is only 5-10 million of actual jobs because of automation. Most people live in ghettos and receive a stipend to barely live. Everyone is on a waiting list (most will take up to 25-40 years) to receive training and education to get a whatever few jobs that are available. Even if you do get a job as a starship engineer, your paying like 90 percent in taxes to pay for the welfare of the rest the population.
